Guernsey Wrap towels – the perfect beach accessory!
In the past, the Guernsey wrap was originally made by the mothers and grandmothers of the Island but in this busy life people now tend to buy them.
Wraps are towelling panels, sometimes with pictures on the front, sometimes simply plain colours that have an elasticated neck and arm holes. Pull it over your head, keeping your hands inside and you can then get changed privately before or after a swim in the pool or sea. They are also cosy to wrap up warm with afterwards, pull your arms through the armholes and tuck into your fish and chips!
A lot of effort has gone into sourcing the material. The towelling comes from Italy and is the perfect weight to be both practical and long lasting. Some of our customers have enjoyed using theirs for 20 years but love to come in and purchase a new style.
The Guernsey wrap is a traditional part of beach life here in Guernsey, although many have been sent to the UK or even Australia and New Zealand. They are popular with all ages and children can also use them for swimming at school or after school swimming clubs.
